The Gold Court

Welcome to The Gold Court. A heavy RP Discord community for those seeking a more lore heavy Roleplay involving life and trade in Ul’dah! We are primarily based in the Crystal data center. Here, we aim to explore life amongst those trying to accumulate wealth in Ul’dah, be they for selfish or altruistic reasons. Ul’dah itself is a complex place with many socio-cultural issues to be explored, whether it be struggles between Royalist and Monetarists, racial tension, and the terrible length one would go for profit: The Gold Court is a place to explore these issues together. Some of the themes we explore are quite sensitive considering their real life comparisons to recent day events, so we encourage people to be respectful of one another when discussing them. We want a friendly environment for everyone involved, as the primary goal of this group is to have fun.Players in The Gold Court are free to play out their own stories as long as they fit within the rules, the Administrator team will be there to create group events, and provide some open hooks that everyone can use for their storylines. To join, hop into our discord below and submit an [application] (https://forms.gle/2h9cb4j7k6YxiBuY6) . Because of time zone differences, please expect a day or more for us to get back to you.
Thank you for your patience.

Character Rules

The melting pot nature of Ul’dah means your character can be from any race or background, but there are a few limitations. Here are the guidelines for characters we are looking for. When roleplaying outside of our community, you are of course free to roleplay however you want, but in order to create a certain level of coherence, you are expected to follow the following guidelines while roleplaying within our community.1.Characters must have ties to a Mercantile Company with an office in Ul’dah. This can include a canonical organization or a smaller upstart company of your own design. If your character has ties to one of the canonical companies, then they cannot be the leader of said company. The company must provide goods or services to the people of Ul’dah.Example of acceptable character: Owner of a company that sells Machines to the Gold Saucer
Example of non-acceptable character: The owner of the Gold Saucer
2. Characters are expected to be lore compliant. This means you cannot contradict events that already happened in game, or lore books. The administrators will be the final arbiter on whether your character meets this requirement. Characters are also forbidden from having direct ties to a canonical NPC.Example of acceptable character: A soldier serving under Raubahn Aldynn
Example of non-acceptable character: Raubahn Aldynn’s long lost husband
3. Characters are expected to be grounded. The stories we expect to tell revolves around the more down to earth elements of FF14, which means no Warrior of Lights, Ascians or other creatures that do not fit the low-fantasy vibe we aim for. Note that players are free to explore high fantasy themes with their characters outside of our group, but these will not be part of our group’s roleplay.Example of acceptable character: A person selling magical components
Example of non-acceptable character: A voidsent disguised as a merchant

Community Rules

1. No godmodding. Players in our community have power only over their own characters, or minor nameless npcs used as a narrative aid. Nothing can happen to a player’s character without their express consent.2. No harassment. We do not condone any antagonistic behaviors towards any of our members. Arguments happen, but they should be dealt with in a mature and sensible way3. No Bigotry. Our community welcomes people of all ethnicity, nationality and sexuality. While we may explore darker topics that will include bigotry and discrimination, we will not tolerate any slurs, sexism or racism out of character.4. No Spoilers. Some of our members may not have finished the MSQ, so we try to minimize discussion of spoilers in respective #spoiler channels.

Lore Resources

Final Fantasy XIV has a huge amount of lore, and therefore it’s hard to cover everything. The admin team will be more than happy to help you figure out lore questions, but in general, you can use the sources listed here. If you have any official lorebook, those also count. We’re pretty sensible, as long as you can show a source, we’re likely to allow it as long as it doesn’t contradict anything. Another thing to consider is that we follow the current timeline, so there might be changes with future expansions.Minerica EorzeaMirkemenagerieConsolegameswiki.comhttps://haillenarte.tumblr.com/https://ash-hell.com/loreFinder/

Upcoming Events

A lavish gala is an everyday occurrence in the golden city of Ul’dah. The wealthy need no reason to celebrate life, but sometimes a gala is more than just an indulgence. Xielann Darkholme is the owner of the Gilded Lily, one of the many establishments frequented by the top layer of Ul’dah society for it’s lavish halls and famed courtesans. Just as importantly, his family holds considerable sway amongst the Royalists.Soon, the Gilded Lily will be the host of a Fashion Gala. In this event, the rising stars of the weaver guild will showcase their finest work, aided by the beautiful courtesans under Lord Darkholme’s employ. Unlike most Galas, this one is open to anyone who can afford to be there, be they Monetarist, Royalist, or even Foreigners. With so many influential people under the same roof, there is no doubt that intrigue will be afoot. Political schemes? Under the table business dealings? Scandalous encounters? Anything can happen in the Gilded Lily.https://thegildedlily.carrd.co/

Fashion Designer Profile:
Eloidette Frasca-Arlesoix is part of the small but growing community of Ishgardian expatriate in Ul'dah. She was born in Ishgard, but spent most of her life abroad.
Ishgardian sensibilities do not translate well to Thanalah fashion due to the climate, so it took some creativity to maintain the aesthetics while being practical. To Eloidette, her art is a way to express her individuality. While the Frasca trading chapter is not a new company, this Gala marks their first official debut in Ul'dah's high society. Its success would be vital if they wish to become a major player in Ul'dah's burgeoning weaver industryhttp://eloide.carrd.co
